Here is an incomplete list of various service activities I have been involved in through the years:
A free virtual international program first created at ODU but now hosted by UC Berkeley to allow aspiring Scientists to hear about cutting-edge research from experts
The program includes mini-courses, lectures, and a mentoring program.

Stories about REYES:
by the US Department of Energy
by ODU
Summer program for aspiring students wanting to learn to program
Hosted hybridly. The in-person portion is being hosted by UC Berkeley, while it is casted live by REYES.
co-created with Ted Rogers
This program selects the top theory students graduating from a Mexican university and allows them to come to UC Berkeley and/or Berkeley Lab in the summer to carry out research with a local mentor.
Recent participants include:
Luis Clemente [to visit Berkeley in 2025]
Diego Hernandez Kent [visited Berkeley in 2023]
Jose Antonio Flores Gutiérrez [visited JLab in 2019] - now Freie Universitat Berlin Master student
Felipe Ortega-Gamma [visited JLab in 2017] - now a postdoc at UC Berkeley
Marco Carrillo [visited JLab in 2016] - now an ODU Ph. D. student
An initiative to draw high-achieving Latinx to ODU, JLab and NASA.
HALES website - includes application for 2020 program.
in collaboration with Rafael Landaeta, J. Christopher Fleming, & Giovanna Genard
Providing support to an outstanding student performing research related to the mission of JLab
Co-PI; in collaboration with Kelly Allmon & Rhonda Barbosa
We have several research opportunities for undergraduate students.
Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) at Jefferson Lab.

The late Ann Nelson was among the strongest advocates for diversities in Physics and Science as a whole. In 2017, she wrote a powerful commentary in Physics Today, which strongly resonated with me then and continues to this day. The piece, title "Diversity in physics: Are you part of the problem?", is worth reading for everybody in the field.
I co-wrote an opinion piece explaining the need for diversifying the sciences and create pre-college outreach programs in order to achieve this goal. The article was published by the Virginia Pilot.
