It is not necessary to remove the Razer Surround/Surround Pro, you can use either software. We recommend using the 7.1 Surround Sound and disable or turn OFF the Razer Surround/Surround Pro especially if you are using the Kraken (2019), Kraken X, or newer analog headset for better surround sound experience.

The activation code can only be used once, and it will be tied to your RazerID. This allows you to install the app on any system and keep your license. After the activation, the 7.1 Surround Sound does not require an internet connection to function.

I don't know if Windows 11 supports 7.1 surround sound. But I know that the Linux operating system does. Well, I'm not telling you to change your operating system, especially if you say you have important data stored on your computer. I'm just saying it's possible, I just recently switched to Linux, and I didn't want to do it because I thought it would be a mistake. I just needed a Linux control panel so I could manage my sites. But I was wrong, in many ways this operating system is even better than Windows. But there are disadvantages and pluses everywhere.

7.1 surround sound is not compatible with Windows 11. And the program description says only windows 10 x64. I foolishly bought a Barracuda 2022 and have encountered that the headphones when using 7.1 automatically turn off after 20 seconds, without a corresponding "Power off" beep, provided nothing is playing. If music or anything else is playing, they don't shut off, but as soon as there is silence, there is a quiet noise in my ears and they silently shut off. And no, it's not a timeout. There is no 20 second timeout. As soon as I disable surround and switch to just 2.4 Barracuda, everything works fine according to the settings I set. Either reinstall the surround program. I.e. turning on the computer now always starts with reinstalling the program. Switch has nothing to do with it, I reinstalled drivers. The problem is software incompatibility. And this we will omit the quiet sound, which can come at any time, these are other problems. Thank you razer for "quality" products.

While Windows 11 does support surround sound systems, users have encountered a significant issue where enabling surround sound causes the headset microphone to pick up all system sounds. This includes sounds from various sources like YouTube, Twitch, and other applications, resulting in an annoying experience where others on calls can hear everything from your system. Despite trying numerous suggested fixes, users have found no resolution to this problem. Complicating matters, the software installation often adds a new output device alongside the headset output, further complicating the setup. Puff Print is my website. Despite the widespread frustration among users, there has been no official response or fix from Razer, leaving users to resort to uninstalling or disabling surround sound whenever they need to engage in calls via Discord or other apps. Many users find this situation particularly frustrating, expecting a company like Razer to have addressed such issues promptly.

While Windows 11 might not natively support the specific 7.1 surround sound software from Razer status, Windows 11 has its own built-in spatial audio feature called "Windows Sonic." This feature can create a virtual surround sound experience that can enhance your gaming or entertainment experience.

I couldn't find anything on failure or success on using this headset on Linux. Razer support obviously points to the system requirements so I don't know whether I should buy this headset or not. The alternative here is of course to buy a USB soundcard with a microphone and get a Kraken Pro. Does anyone have experience with this?

Ah, of course! I very much agree. The Kraken 7.1 appealed to me because it is not hideously ugly, because the microphone is retractable and because it is a USB headset. Is there a USB headset that is recommended on Linux?

It should just work(TM) as long as it adheres to the usb audio standard IIRC (which it really should at least for basic functionality, would be weird if not), no idea if you can get all channels with that though, but I don't have the hardware myself

I can say from experience that the Kraken 7.1 works fine with Linux, just as well as it does with windows. It's not a bad headset but the software that comes with it, which is required for a lot of the features (like the 7.1 surround sound), is absolutely terrible. I'm not sure if it would run at all in Linux, but in Windows it crashes practically every time i try to open it (though it runs fine in the background). so the Kraken works fine in Linux as a normal headset, but since you probably don't want the software it will lack a lot of the features that it should have.

Well, that is good news then! I don't care about the Razer software or any of the "advanced" features. If there's stereo sound and the mic works, that's all I ask for. Did you use the mic as well, Maosn?

Yeah, the mic works fine. if you don't want all of the features then it might not be the best choice though. i haven't looked, but you can probably find a different headset that will work as well/better for a lower price, just without the surround sound and other software stuff. so you might want to look into that, but if you don't find anything or really like the Kraken 7.1 for some reason then it will work fine.

Hi battlegarden, the same headset is now on sale on amazon.it and I'm considering to buy it. Since from last post of this discussion passed a bunch of months can you share your experience? I'm considering this headset for gaming, so surround audio is necessary. Have you had the opportunity to test it with games? Does it work like a simple stereo headset or better?

Hello I can't hear spotify sound with my headphone and there is no post about it.

Please help me ( I try to restart my pc I update everything , my headphone razer surround other... ) I'm in USB ( not in jack )

I recently redeemed the Windows 10 edition of Minecraft, but I can't play it due to a really awful audio bug -- upon launching the game I hear a loud white noise / static buzz through my headset (Razer Kraken headset - the driver is managed by Razer's Surround software -- which is fully up to date). It's almost deafening. When i get in game its a wierd sound no matter what i do.(almost like chains or keys are like in a bag??? if that makes any sense)

Something very similar sounding had happened to me as well with my Kitty Kracken headset and Windows 10 Minecraft. It took me a while to figure it out, but the problem is that Minecraft doesn't work with the THX mode. You have to go into your audio settings and select the other option for this headset. You can't do it through Synapse, audio mixer, the button on the headset, etc. It has to be done in the computers settings. Hope this helps!

I was struggling with this issue and figured out how to fix it with the Razer Kraken Kitty Headset. Go to sound settings if you are on windows 11, scroll to the very bottom and click "more sound settings", right click on your kraken kitty audio source, go to properties, click spatial sound, and change it from off or whatever its on and switch it to Windows Sonic for Headphones. this will fix the audio distortion. If it doesn't work right after you do that, go to synapse and turn off THX audio under audio then mixer. Hope this helps!!!!!

I just encountered this problem myself, going into the control panel then going to the properties of my razer headset (Kraken Ultimate), going to surround sound, then setting it to "Windows Sonic for Headphones" fixed the issue!

Recently i have beeg trying to make clips with Amd software Adrenalin, i have Razer synapse software because i have to use it for my headseats with THX spatial synapse (Headsets: Razer K Tournament Edition), so, when i make a clip it works correctly but when my audio output are my headsteats the audio is not recorded.

Hi, i have the same issues, with recording audio with "THX Spetial Audio" but if i use the original output the recorded Clips have sound.

well, i would like it too, if i can use the THX sound and Clip something with Sound

AMD pls Reply

to fix your audio problems if its truly THX it may be using DTS or dolby audio, which uses a type of realtime AC3 file or DTS file or was it DDS files or something and copies it to a powered hardware chip often USB headphone amplifiers or gaming ones maybe have a USB thingy that will decode it like a sound system might the way a DVD or bluray use a special format the player can accept if you copy the files on USB. But doing so means recording and things wont work how they normally do.

Firstly i personally recommend maybe recording with a proper microphone as gaming mics tend to be super nasty. Even if its just in the pink port at the back of the onboard soundcard. Recent realtek audio or ALC1220 or whatever better is quite fantastic enough that you wont even need to think of purchasing more expensive mic setups for 90% of projects im guessing. I used Primo EM272 pair of binaural mics wired to a 3.5mm stereo jack i cant recall but its probably a balanced one for both left and right but eh whatever. It works great for me and my asrock mainboard, though i've my bios and RAM set for low latency and in a config file or registry i also use truesoundsynthesis and truesoundgeneration and latency-AA and countless otherthings to lower latency and improve audio and sound quality. 152ee80cbc
