General Guidelines for Lt. Vargas LODD Services
Notes for All Attending
Rehab Units and Mission BBQ will be on site and available to all attendees
They will be located nearest to the Alpha/Delta Corner of the Cow Palace, to the North of the doors.
The Cow Palace will close promptly at 12PM. Only the Vargas Family/Honor Guard will remain in the building.
Doors will RE-OPEN at 12:45 PM and attendees will be sat in an orderly fashion.
Personnel attending should be near the entrance by this time.
Please listen to Honor Guard members for seating instructions.
For In-Service Units and Attendees NOT staying for the Service/Procession
On Duty Crews: Refer to the schedule provided by D-Shift Chiefs for when your crew should arrive
Enter the MD State Fairgrounds off of York Rd
Upon arrival, notify parking personnel that you’re in service, or not staying for the service.
You’ll be directed to park in the ‘Transient Parking’ area (green on the map attached)
On Duty Crews: An Honor Guard Member will meet on-duty crews at the door and escort them to bypass the line to greet Lt. Vargas’s family and pay final respects to Lt. Vargas.
Service will be live-streamed for on-duty crews to be able to watch. Link for the livestream will be shared on https://sites.google.com/view/RayVargas
For Out of Service Units remaining for the Service/Procession
Arrive to the Fairgrounds NO EARLIER THAN 9AM, and no later than 11AM.
Enter the MD State Fairgrounds off of York Rd
Upon arrival, notify parking personnel that you’re out of service
You’ll be directed to park in the ‘Fire Apparatus Parking’ area at the top of the lot (purple on the map attached)
Crews are not to leave the fairgrounds once you arrive
Refer to above guidelines re: Rehab/Mission BBQ/Building Closure
Following the service and recessional, crews should swiftly return to their apparatus so the procession may leave in a timely fashion.
Await Honor Guard instructions for dismissal in the procession.
ABSOLUTELY NO FIRE APPARATUS SHALL ENTER THE DULANEY VALLEY MEMORIAL GARDENS GROUNDS. ALL APPARATUS MUST REMAIN ON PADONIA RD.
For Off-Duty Personnel in POVs
Off-Duty Personnel should strive to carpool to reduce the number of vehicles
Arrive to the Fairgrounds NO EARLIER THAN 9AM, and no later than 11AM.
Enter the MD State Fairgrounds off of York Rd
Upon arrival, notify parking personnel that you will be attending the funeral and procession.
You’ll be directed to park in the ‘General Public Parking’ area (blue on the map attached).
Personnel should strive to not leave the fairgrounds once you arrive
Refer to above guidelines re: Rehab/Mission BBQ/Building Closure
Following the service and recessional, personnel should swiftly return to their vehicles so the procession may leave in a timely fashion.
Await Honor Guard instructions for dismissal in the procession.
