Cupid is very fond of playing matchmaker, and it is one of her specalties. She has the ability to enter or mess with the dreams of other pokemon, and she uses them to send messages to pokemon about who she thinks they'd make a good pair with. While some pokemon were thankful, some (reasonably) weren't, and did not like Cupid interviening without permission, so as to not displease her friends, she halted this activity (though of course, she continued to matchmake when asked).

Cupid struggled with the temptation of using dreams to matchmake, so they went off to beg a mighty Arceus for her own small domain to continue her shenanigans. The Arceus agreed to fufil their request, and the Matchmaker Isles were born.
