What are some of the best brokers to use?
Interactive Brokers - some of the lowest commissions (as low as US$1). Good for trading stocks and options in all major markets e.g. US, Europe, Asia (Singapore and HK). HK trades with commission as low as HK$18. But user interface is geared more towards professional traders.
Charles Schwab / TD AmeriTrade - zero commission for US trades. Good for US trades. But does not offer global market trading for accounts opened in HK yet.
What are some good trading strategies for options?
Options trading can be complex and risky. But selling covered put options is one strategy that can be safe and help lower the cost of entry into a stock position.
Adopt a philosophy of trading options no differently from stocks - trade only options of stocks that you do not mind holding.
Recognize that options is uses leverage. As with any leverage, do not trade beyond your means.

Other Investment Philosophies
John C. Bogle - the founder of Vanguard (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_C._Bogle) popularized investing in low cost ETFs and mutual funds. Some of the key principles of his investment philosophy include diversification, ETFs with low cost and expense ratios, and keeping it simple. His approach has outperformed many actively managed fund managers.
