About Me

I am currently a graduating senior at the State University of New York at Oswego with a double major in Cinema and Screen Studies and Broadcasting and Mass Communication. I am from Texas but am currently staying in the Syracuse area. I'm open to all sorts of new adventures and can't wait to grow as a filmmaker and artist.

Rayne, the filmmaker.

I am a filmmaker, but most of all, I am an enthusiastic storyteller, always looking for ways to mesh cinema and message. I focus most on experimental filmmaking, as its exploration into the boundaries of cinematic sight and sound is something that really appeals to me. Social commentary pieces,  poetic dialogues, strong messages, archival footage, symbolism, and metaphor are elements I love to incorporate into my films. I want to make my audience feel something and give them a visual experience they've never quite had before.

Artist At Heart

I am an artist of all sorts: I've published a novel, made my mark in graphic design, written lyrics for artists, was an award-winning actress in competitive theatre, and I love to paint and play piano. My artistic background and various skills enrich my work and make me flexible, whether it's set design or directing an actor.

Cinema and Me

Cinema to me has always been an avenue of storytelling. I've always been an avid pretend player and eager to create new worlds, building fantastical landscapes and sets out of cardboard boxes and toys as a little girl. There's something about the way a movie transports you and makes you forget about the reality you're living in; or, perhaps even more importantly, the way a movie can reveal so much about it. It's not about visual pleasure; success to me is having an audience leave the theatre and not be able to stop talking about what they just watched.
