Hi there, I'm Ray and I love to explore problems that push the frontiers at the intersection of physical sciences, AI and large scale engineering. Currently, at Meta's FAIR labs, I'm working on research that uses AI to model and simulate the properties of atoms to accelerate fundamental discoveries in chemistry, material science and biology.
Previously, I completed my Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Toronto in the Miller Group studying motion of molecules and atoms at their fundamental timescales (femtosecond) with ultrafast lasers and electrons. Following this, I took a break from research to pursue interests in computer vision and AI in industry; I built computer vision and autonomous navigation software for UAVs (@Pilot AI - Founding engineer), perception for self-driving cars (@Lyft Level 5 Autonomy team - Head of ML Foundations), and AI foundation models and training platforms (@Meta Pytorch).
