Early Life and Education

Ray was raised in a family deeply involved in financial education. His father created a retirement-income model to convert long-term assets into reliable income, which influenced his early understanding of the importance of planning and structure in personal finance.

He pursued higher education at Loyola Marymount University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. This academic experience provided a foundation that would support his future roles as a CPA, financial advisor, and executive leader in the wealth management space.

Entrepreneurial Ventures and Leadership Roles

After beginning his career as a CPA, he transitioned into entrepreneurship and launched a portfolio of companies that now serve thousands of advisors and clients nationwide.

Lucia Capital Group (LCG)

In 2010, Ray founded a national wealth management firm headquartered in San Diego. Serving as Chairman and CEO, he leads a team of advisors, tax professionals, and investment specialists. The firm uses a time-segmented strategy that helps pre-retirees and high-net-worth families turn their savings into structured, long-term retirement income.

Quotient Advisor Partners

First established in 2020 and renamed in 2025, this platform helps advisors grow independent firms with full-service infrastructure support. From compliance and operations to marketing and technology, it offers resources that allow financial professionals to scale without sacrificing client service. It also serves advisors seeking to transition from employee-based models to independent ownership.

Quotient Advisor Community

Formed in 2025, this network brings together financial advisors across the country through virtual meetings, peer-led sessions, and access to planning software. Members collaborate and learn within a structured environment that supports business development and client success. The community also features a retirement planning tool that helps advisors show how client assets can be transformed into dependable retirement income.

After acquiring a Santa Barbara-based investment firm in 2014, he relaunched it in 2020 under a new name. The boutique asset management company follows a concentrated investment approach, focusing on a select group of businesses with consistent revenue and competitive strength. The core strategy has been in place for over two decades, serving private clients and advisors who offer separately managed accounts.

BucketsFP

Ray developed this fintech platform to help financial advisors build and manage time-segmented income strategies. The software is customizable for enterprise firms and can be white-labeled to match each company’s branding, compliance standards, and system infrastructure. It helps advisors visually communicate income planning to clients with clarity and precision.

The firm enables advisors to expand without the cost of building large internal teams.

Prior Leadership Roles

He has served in multiple executive positions in the financial services industry. From 2010 to 2021, he was CEO of a broker-dealer. From 2011 to 2020, he led a registered investment advisory firm. During the same period, he also acted as Portfolio Manager and Chairman of the Board for a closed-end interval fund focused on alternative investment strategies. These roles gave him direct experience managing complex financial platforms.

Media and Thought Leadership

Ray is the host of the Vaulted Views Podcast, launched in 2024 and recorded inside a real bank vault. The show covers topics related to business, finance, and advisory practice management. He contrasts short-term decision-making with the “Vaulted View,” a long-term, systems-based mindset that promotes sustainable growth and deeper client relationships.

Awards and Recognitions

In 2016, he received the AICPA Standing Ovation Award, which honored a group of CPAs under 40 for achievements in financial planning. He has also been nominated for the Vistage Lifetime Achievement Award and the CEO of the Year Award. The San Diego Business Journal recognized him as one of the 500 Most Influential People in San Diego, and he has been recognized by organizations such as the Rotary Club and local business chambers for his civic involvement.

Philanthropy and Community Engagement

Ray has supported a variety of community organizations for more than a decade, including one focused on programs for children, families, and healthcare. He contributes to a local Catholic high school and youth sports programs in the region. Beyond financial support, he mentors business owners and works with regional development groups to foster small-business growth and community advancement.

Personal Life

He and his wife recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. They have two children: one plays NCAA basketball, and the other is in high school and is actively involved in golf and boxing. He places great value on family and remains engaged in his children's academic and athletic interests.
