Ray Lemmens

About

Hi, my name is Ray Lemmens. I'm a Belgian dancer, performing artist, and creator.

My artistic journey began at De!Kunsthumaniora in Antwerp, where I graduated in theatre. I later chose to focus on contemporary dance, earning a Bachelor's degree at Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg. Now, having recently graduated with my Bachelor in Dance Arts in Context (contemporary department), I'm excited to dive into the professional field.

I’ve been actively performing in the field since 2019, starting with the production #Dorian by Pieter Gyssels in collaboration with fABULEUS. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work with renowned artists such as Lea Ved, United-C, Lunatics and Poets, Anthony van Gog, Danielle Huyghe, Barnaby Booth, and others.

In my second year at Fontys in 2023, I was selected to perform my solo creation Love Me Tender at the international Solo-Tanz-Theatre Festival in Stuttgart. marking my first real start as a maker in the field.

In 2024, I created Hold Me, a research/performance originally created as guest-performance for Dansproject, mentored by Helder Seabra. This research has now been shown at Deltebre Dansa festival in Spain, Enter festival in the Netherlands and has toured with the Carte Blanche Tour of Fontys in my 3th year. 

During the 2024–2025 season, I completed a full-season internship with Poetic Disasters Club by Club Guy & Roni in Groningen, the Netherlands. Throughout the season, I toured across the country, participated in research projects, and gained valuable experience as a professional dancer.

Right now I'm diving head first into the professional field. My arms are wide open for all kinds of experiences as a dancer, performer and maker.
