Universal Testing Machine (Zwick-Roell, Germany)

A Universal Testing Machine (UTM) is a multifaceted instrument employed to evaluate the mechanical properties of materials under diverse loading conditions. Engineered to conduct a spectrum of tests, such as tensile, compressive, flexural, and shear assessments, the UTM is indispensable in the fields of materials science and engineering.

Usage: Room & High temperature uniaxial tensile and compression testing

Capacity: 10 & 100 kN

Specimen dimension(s): ASTM standards

Vertical Creep Testing Machine (Zwick-Roell, Germany)

Creep Testing Machine is a specialized instrument designed to assess the creep behavior of materials subjected to prolonged static loads at elevated temperatures. This type of testing is crucial for materials used in high-temperature applications where long-term mechanical stability is required. High-accuracy extensometers, which are high-temperature resistant and designed to provide precise measurements over the long duration of creep tests, are used to measure the deformation of the specimen.

Usage: Room & High temperature creep test at constant stress

Capacity:  100 kN

Specimen dimension(s): ASTM standards

Horizontal Creep Testing Machine with DIC module (In-house built, IIT Madras)

Creep Testing Machine is a specialized instrument designed to assess the creep behavior of materials subjected to prolonged static loads at elevated temperatures. However, the disadvantageous compliance due to the self weight of the specimen plays a vital role in performing the creep tests. In order to mitigate the same, the horizontal creep testing machine has been designed and developed in-house at High Temperature Structural Materials Laboratory, IIT Madras and being used extensively.

Usage: Room & High temperature uniaxial tensile and compression testing

Capacity:  5 kN

Specimen dimension(s): ASTM standards
