Director's Message
Hello Ravenwood Band Families,
This week was a hot one! In classes, we continued forward with Fall Concert preparations. Please note that we will use a digital program only for our Fall Concert on Thursday. If you would like a printed concert program, please send Directors an email requesting the pdf! In Marching Band, we were able to maximize time learning another stands tune for football games and the closer music to "Odys-SEE". We were even able to push forward with learning a few sets of our Closer yesterday, despite the heat! Thank you to our families and students to shifting forward our rehearsal time to allow this to happen. Students, thank YOU for your diligent effort in rehearsal - you are choosing discipline that will pay off at the end of the season!
The next two weeks bring many events and performance opportunities! Students, make a plan to manage your time now so that you are not falling behind or surprised by the academic rigor in tandem with our expectations for Band AND school-wide events. A proactive plan makes the next two weeks so much fun!
For ALL Band Families, this is a reminder that our Flag Program is our most visible Community service and our most lucrative fundraiser. We could not have the Ravenwood Band Program that you know and love without this operation. We need "all hands on deck" for our final two Flag Days of 2026! Thank you to all who have registered to receive this newsletter, those installing flags tomorrow, and those who have already registered for our Nov. 8th Veteran's Day Installation!

*The expectation for absences is that they are communicated at least two weeks in advance of a conflict in order for the potential for an excused absence. If an absence is not excused, this may impact a student's performance and spot with the ensemble.*

Curricular Donations
We are committed to giving your student a robust music education and your curricular donations is what makes that possible.
Through curricular donations, we are able to supply travel, music, instrumental supplies, and much more for each and every one of your students. The curricular donation amount for this year is $100 per student.
Curricular donations are able to be paid online or in-person (cash or check to Ravenwood High School, Memo: Band)

Please see the itinerary below for detailed information!
The Mass Williamson County Band (all HS Band Programs) will open the Exhibition, followed immediately by our performance! After our performance, we will go back to our equipment truck for a debrief, followed by dismissals for individuals checking-out with their parents to attend the Homecoming Dance. Please note students must be checked out by a parent/guardian; we are not allowed to dismiss students under the care of other students.
Directors and Chaperones will be handling this check-out process for ONLY the students who have already completed the required Google Form.

We have the ability to extend to businesses to help fund our program and off-set future costs - however we need a volunteer to run that execution! As with all activities with the band, we will need volunteers! Please always check the volunteer page on ravenwoodband.com to see how you can pitch in -- we need chaperones (Tier III approved), pit crew, meal service help & snack donations to help competition days run smoothly. If you are with the band as pit crew or a chaperone during the exhibition, you do not need a ticket into the event. (If your non-volunteering family members plan to attend, however, you will not be able to bring them along with you, they must buy a ticket and sit in the stands. Tell them to holler loud for our Red Team!)

About Last Year:
Following a record-setting 2025–2026 season, the Ravenwood High School Band program celebrated not only its competitive success, but the lasting academic and personal impact it continues to have on students—while encouraging the next class of performers to be part of what comes next. As the largest high school band program in Williamson County, Ravenwood once again delivered standout results on the field and in the classroom, combining championship-level performance with exceptional academic achievement.
“Being part of band goes far beyond music,” said Briana Vogt, Director of Bands. “Our students learn discipline, time management, and how to push themselves toward excellence—skills that translate directly into success in the classroom and in life.”
A Program Built on Excellence—On and Off the Field
The Ravenwood Band program continues to exceed expectations, with graduates setting remarkable standards:
Academic Achievement: Band members earned an average ACT score of 31, far surpassing state and national averages (19.3 / 19.4) and secured more than $5 million in scholarship offers. Eight 2025 students were recognized as National Merit Commended Scholars.
Exceptional GPA Performance: The graduating class achieved an average GPA of 4.1, significantly above both national averages (3.0–3.2) and the Ravenwood school average (3.73), with multiple National Merit Scholars among its ranks.
Time Management & Discipline: Members of the Ravenwood Marching Band dedicated themselves to rehearsals and performances, building habits that carry into future academic and career success.
Leadership & Collaboration: The program fosters teamwork at the highest level, with the last two graduating classes including 2 Valedictorians and 9 Salutatorians, reflecting the leadership culture within the band community.

Beyond the accolades, Ravenwood Band offers students a unique opportunity to grow—both as performers and as individuals—through a culture built on collaboration, commitment, and community.
The 2025–2026 season was one to remember for the Ravenwood Band program—filled with unforgettable performances, national recognition, and life-changing experiences for its students.
But more than the awards and accolades, this season showcased what makes Ravenwood truly special: a place where students come together to grow, achieve, and be part of something bigger than themselves.
A Season of Big Stages and Bigger Moments
The Ravenwood Marching Band launched its season on one of the biggest stages in music—opening the CMA Festival in downtown Nashville—setting the tone for a year defined by energy, excellence, and momentum. From there, the band earned early-season victories, including First Place in the AAAA Division and Overall Large Division Reserve Champion at the Stones River Championship. Their 2025 production, “It Ain’t Easy,” brought a fun, high-energy pop culture theme to audiences across the state as they competed in Bands of America events. The season culminated in a once-in-a-lifetime experience as the band marched down Main Street, U.S.A. at Walt Disney World, celebrating the new year together—a moment students will carry with them forever. Behind every performance is a powerful community. The Ravenwood Band is proudly supported by dedicated families and fans who come together to make these opportunities possible, creating an environment where students are challenged, supported, and celebrated.
Excellence Across Every Ensemble
The Ravenwood Jazz Band reached new heights this year, earning selection as one of the top jazz ensembles in Tennessee to perform at the prestigious Tennessee Music Education Association All-State Conference. As the only jazz band selected statewide, they performed for the state’s leading music educators and were joined on stage by Grammy Award-winning musician Jeff Coffin of the Dave Matthews Band—an unforgettable experience that reflects the caliber of the program.
The Ravenwood Orchestra continues to set a high standard of excellence, delivering expressive, technically strong performances that showcase the talent and dedication of its student musicians. Through a commitment to artistry, collaboration, and growth, the ensemble provides students with an inspiring musical experience that resonates both on stage and within the community!
Ravenwood Indoor Percussion stunned the world and delivered a truly historic season, culminating in a World Championship title at the 2026 WGI World Championships. Their show, “The Ripple Effect,” earned a remarkable score of 95.525 and capped off an undefeated season—establishing Ravenwood as one of the top programs in the world.
Ravenwood Winter Guard also shined on the national stage with their emotionally powerful production, “Where We Belong.” Through expressive performance and storytelling, the team captivated audiences and judges alike, earning top placements throughout the season and a well-deserved place at the WGI World Championships.
More Than Music: A Community That Makes an Impact
This year also marked the launch of the Ravenwood United Sound Chapter, expanding the program’s mission beyond performance. In partnership with United Sound, band students worked alongside peers with special needs, creating meaningful musical experiences rooted in inclusion, mentorship, and connection. The impact extended beyond the school as Ravenwood students performed for patients at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, sharing music and launching the United Sound initiative through a special performance broadcast hospital-wide from the Ryan Seacrest Studios.
