Hello Ravenwood Band Families,
This week was another successful week for the Ravenwood Band Program! We were blessed with pleasant weather and high morale from our students all week. That is exactly what we needed into to make our Siegel competition the success that it needed to be.
In marching news, the Ravenwood Marching Band managed to put the closer on the field within a weeks time and perform it without a metronome at Siegel. We won 3rd in large ensemble, 3rd in our class, and most outstanding guard. Our marching band students are doing phenomenally and they deserve all of the success that they are earning!
In concert band news, we are continuing to move forward in our winter concert preparation. It is going to be a concert packed with both wind band and chamber ensemble. We are finalizing concert attire orders this week so turn in your payments ASAP so we are able to get your student's attire in promptly!
Mid-State registrations and payment are also due this Tuesday (see the google form below). We are not able to reccomend this opportunity enough for all members of the band program!

Mid-State is a phenomenal opportunity for musicians to continue cultivating their craft by surrounding themselves with the finest high school musicians in the area. Registration information and payment for Mid-State is due this Tuesday! Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony are required to submit a video audition. It is heavily encouraged for Symphonic Band members.

We are committed to giving your student a robust music education and your curricular donations is what makes that possible.
Through curricular donations, we are able to supply travel, music, instrumental supplies, and much more for each and every one of your students. The curricular donation amount for this year is $100 per student.

UNIFORMS:
Reminder that uniforms should be returned to the Uniform room by Tuesday following a competition if they have been taken home to be washed. We ask that you plan to wash them after the competition on 9/26 and return to the uniform room the following week (9/29 and 10/1). The washing instructions are below - please contact Carol Dawson 615-260-5831 or uniforms@ravenwoodband.com with questions!
Uniform Care Instructions:
Use only cold water
Never use the dryer and never Iron - hang Bibbers & Tops to dry (Hangars in Uniform Garment Bag)
Lay gauntlets & gloves (if used) flat to dry
When you rehang, please have the hangar hook going left toward the name tag. This makes it easier for the musicians to find their garment bag!

Ravenwood Marching Band Makes a Powerful Competition Debut
Winning 2nd Place and Best Guard
at the 2026 March to the Summit Invitational
The Amazing Ravenwood Marching Band earned 2nd Place (Class AAA) and “Best Guard” with “The ODYS-SEE,” launching its competitive season after months of preparation through a relentless Tennessee summer
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — September 19, 2026 — Months of rehearsals, conditioning and perseverance through the Tennessee summer paid off Saturday as The Amazing Ravenwood Marching Band delivered an impressive competitive debut of its 2026 production, “The ODYS-SEE,” earning 2nd Place Class AAA & “Best Guard” at the March to the Summit Invitational at Summit High School.
Competing among 14 marching bands from across the region, Ravenwood delivered a performance that showcased the musicianship, visual precision and determination the students have been building since summer rehearsals began.
The performance marked an exciting new chapter in Ravenwood’s 2026 journey and the first opportunity for the ensemble to bring The ODYS-SEE to a competitive audience. Inspired by Homer’s The Odyssey, “The ODYS-SEE” takes audiences on an on-field journey through vision, illusion and revelation. More than a story about finding the way home, the production explores how a journey can transform the way we see the world—and ourselves—by the time we arrive.
Saturday’s performance was also a testament to the commitment behind the scenes. Ravenwood’s students have spent months preparing physically and musically for the season, rehearsing through one of Tennessee’s hottest stretches of the year while balancing the demands of a new school year.
That story unfolds through a diverse musical repertoire spanning classical, jazz, pop and rock, including selections inspired by Robert W. Smith’s The Iliad and Into the Storm, “Stormy Weather” made famous by Etta James, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Frankie Valli, “I Can See Clearly Now” by Johnny Nash, “Ocean Eyes” by Billie Eilish and U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.” Together, the music, movement, color guard and visual design transform the football field into an evolving voyage at sea—one in which what the audience sees becomes as important as where the journey ultimately leads.

The Amazing Ravenwood Marching Band is led by Directors Briana Vogt and Christian Carroll and supported by an outstanding instructional staff including Daniel Long, Mike Leitzke, Isaac Loy, Dylan Whitt, Heather Arnett, Erin Bender, Julia Culp, Amaya Cooper, Olivia Fitch, Emily McCorvey and Charlie Torrent. The Ravenwood Band Program is proudly supported by a dedicated community of families, volunteers, alumni, sponsors and fans who help provide extraordinary musical and performance opportunities for Ravenwood students.

About Last Year:
Following a record-setting 2025–2026 season, the Ravenwood High School Band program celebrated not only its competitive success, but the lasting academic and personal impact it continues to have on students—while encouraging the next class of performers to be part of what comes next. As the largest high school band program in Williamson County, Ravenwood once again delivered standout results on the field and in the classroom, combining championship-level performance with exceptional academic achievement.
“Being part of band goes far beyond music,” said Briana Vogt, Director of Bands. “Our students learn discipline, time management, and how to push themselves toward excellence—skills that translate directly into success in the classroom and in life.”
A Program Built on Excellence—On and Off the Field
The Ravenwood Band program continues to exceed expectations, with graduates setting remarkable standards:
Academic Achievement: Band members earned an average ACT score of 31, far surpassing state and national averages (19.3 / 19.4) and secured more than $5 million in scholarship offers. Eight 2025 students were recognized as National Merit Commended Scholars.
Exceptional GPA Performance: The graduating class achieved an average GPA of 4.1, significantly above both national averages (3.0–3.2) and the Ravenwood school average (3.73), with multiple National Merit Scholars among its ranks.
Time Management & Discipline: Members of the Ravenwood Marching Band dedicated themselves to rehearsals and performances, building habits that carry into future academic and career success.
Leadership & Collaboration: The program fosters teamwork at the highest level, with the last two graduating classes including 2 Valedictorians and 9 Salutatorians, reflecting the leadership culture within the band community.

Beyond the accolades, Ravenwood Band offers students a unique opportunity to grow—both as performers and as individuals—through a culture built on collaboration, commitment, and community.
The 2025–2026 season was one to remember for the Ravenwood Band program—filled with unforgettable performances, national recognition, and life-changing experiences for its students.
But more than the awards and accolades, this season showcased what makes Ravenwood truly special: a place where students come together to grow, achieve, and be part of something bigger than themselves.
A Season of Big Stages and Bigger Moments
The Ravenwood Marching Band launched its season on one of the biggest stages in music—opening the CMA Festival in downtown Nashville—setting the tone for a year defined by energy, excellence, and momentum. From there, the band earned early-season victories, including First Place in the AAAA Division and Overall Large Division Reserve Champion at the Stones River Championship. Their 2025 production, “It Ain’t Easy,” brought a fun, high-energy pop culture theme to audiences across the state as they competed in Bands of America events. The season culminated in a once-in-a-lifetime experience as the band marched down Main Street, U.S.A. at Walt Disney World, celebrating the new year together—a moment students will carry with them forever. Behind every performance is a powerful community. The Ravenwood Band is proudly supported by dedicated families and fans who come together to make these opportunities possible, creating an environment where students are challenged, supported, and celebrated.
Excellence Across Every Ensemble
The Ravenwood Jazz Band reached new heights this year, earning selection as one of the top jazz ensembles in Tennessee to perform at the prestigious Tennessee Music Education Association All-State Conference. As the only jazz band selected statewide, they performed for the state’s leading music educators and were joined on stage by Grammy Award-winning musician Jeff Coffin of the Dave Matthews Band—an unforgettable experience that reflects the caliber of the program.
The Ravenwood Orchestra continues to set a high standard of excellence, delivering expressive, technically strong performances that showcase the talent and dedication of its student musicians. Through a commitment to artistry, collaboration, and growth, the ensemble provides students with an inspiring musical experience that resonates both on stage and within the community!
Ravenwood Indoor Percussion stunned the world and delivered a truly historic season, culminating in a World Championship title at the 2026 WGI World Championships. Their show, “The Ripple Effect,” earned a remarkable score of 95.525 and capped off an undefeated season—establishing Ravenwood as one of the top programs in the world.
Ravenwood Winter Guard also shined on the national stage with their emotionally powerful production, “Where We Belong.” Through expressive performance and storytelling, the team captivated audiences and judges alike, earning top placements throughout the season and a well-deserved place at the WGI World Championships.
More Than Music: A Community That Makes an Impact
This year also marked the launch of the Ravenwood United Sound Chapter, expanding the program’s mission beyond performance. In partnership with United Sound, band students worked alongside peers with special needs, creating meaningful musical experiences rooted in inclusion, mentorship, and connection. The impact extended beyond the school as Ravenwood students performed for patients at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, sharing music and launching the United Sound initiative through a special performance broadcast hospital-wide from the Ryan Seacrest Studios.
