The team finished clearing the pond of elodea and continued to coppice section V.
3rd Nov: Chiffchaff singing, Raven - Brown Hairstreak egg search.
28th Oct: Crossbill over, Raven, Marsh Tit, 2 Southern Hawkers
The team split as on 14th, and the scrub cutting was completed, and about 40% of the pond was cleared of weed - mainly Elodea.

The team split, one half cutting scrub around the Newt Pond, the other coppicing section V, north half.

2nd May: Blackcaps, Cuckoo, Chiffchaffs, Marsh Tits, 3 Willow Warblers and possibly one Garden Warbler. 6 helleborine protectors, no Birds Nest Orchids, quite a lot of small clusters of Wood Sorrel in the usual place, though none were in flower. Adders Tongue fern, Early Purple Orchids.. all in their usual places, but couldn’t find any Twayblades. Above all - Brown Hairstreak caterpillar! (First for Ravensroost) (JaneD)

12th April: Treecreeper and also a pair of Greater Spotted Woodpeckers, 2 Blackcaps and 2 Chiffchaffs and lots of Blue Tits. Also 1 Speckled Wood, 3 Orange Tips, 4 Peacock and 1 male Brimstone butterflies plus another Hare.(D&DG)
7th April: Pair Marsh Tits, ringed Chiffchaff, Hare, 3 Orange Tips & Brimstone female (D&DG)
4th April: Primroses and Wood Anemones and one lonely Bluebell! Lots of Brimstone and Peacock butterflies and I think I saw an Orange Tip. There was one in my garden too. Lots of bird song. Newts in the pond. (Val Macauley)
23rd March: Colour-ringed Marsh Tit, also Treecreeper, several Commas, Small Tortoiseshells, Peacocks and a Brimstone butterfly. (Dave & Debbie Gilbert) Simon's comment on the Marsh Tit:
That bird was ringed on the 12th November last year at Ravensroost. It was fledged last year, and so we were unable to sex it, as it can only be done on either brood patch or the male's cloacal protuberance. If (a big "if") and when we get out again in the next month or so, if I can retrap it, I should be able to say more about its sex.(Simon Tucker)

18th Mar. Pair Canada Geese on and over the meadows and ponds - first for the reserve, pair Mallards, c10 Fieldfares, Treecreeper, c3 Chiffchaffs - first for the year, lots of frogspawn in the meadow ponds.
