One of the concepts we hold sacred is the understanding that all things share in the Sacred, that the divine suffuses all of reality. In particular we strive to exist in harmony with the Earth.
Like us they live their lives from creation to destruction. They share this world with us, vibrating in their own time and for their own purpose. Just as we do with the Trees, the Witch seeks to form relationships with the stones. Through the stones we form a relationship with the Earth.
We form a relationship with the stones by singing to them, by dancing with them, and by listening to them. While the singing can be wordless, or can be in the form of mantras linked to the elements or other spiritual entities or concepts, we have a particular song we like to use.

A Note on Song Choice
For the purposes of Stone Singing, the meaning of the song used isn't germane, rather that it be rhythmically compatible with the somatic portion of the practice, and not distracting to the conscious mind.
