RAVE product provides near real-time hourly biomass-burning emissions in 0.03° (~3km) across North America. The science team also reprocesses the RAVE product for recent years.
The RAVE version 1.0 provides hourly emission estimates, FRP, FRE, and other ancillary data. The product is provided in NetCDF format.
Emission estimates for ten chemical specials
Carbon dioxide (CO2)
Carbon monoxide (CO)
Fine particulate matter (PM2.5)
Total particulate matter (TPM)
Sulfur dioxide (SO2)
Organic carbon (OC)
Black carbon (BC)
Nitrogen oxides (NOx)
Ammonia (NH3)
Methane (CH4)
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)

The near-real-time RAVE product is provided operationally at NOAA, with a < 2h delay since November 2023. It covers North America and uses 10min ABI full-disk active fire product and the 375m VIIRS active fire product. The North American version RAVE expands the CONUS version RAVE by including Central America and high-latitude areas (Alaska and Canada). Note that emissision estimates at high latitudes are not evaluated.
The NOAA OSPA provides an online map tool to view hourly emissions, and also the product algorithm theoretical basis document (ATBD) and user guide.

Spatial coverage. Latitude from 3.5° - 81.8°N, longitude from 144.96°E - 27.84° W, with a domain of 2610 rows along latitude by 6240 columns along longitude.

The reprocessed RAVE product (v2.0) for the recent is provided at South Dakota State University. As the operational algorithm has been upgraded to v2.0 recently, the reprocessing has been changed from the CONUS domain into the NA domain. Because it takes lots of time to obtain all input data, reprocessing is usually conducted every few months and a delay of 2-3 months is expected.
