Armored Nutcrackers, first emerging in the Vasennian Period, have became some of the most successful clades of any Nutcracker. You may recognize many of these species, and some more will soon be seen in the Early Praelurian Period. There are three main branches of Armored Nutcracker. The Nutcrabs, certainly the most successful of their descendants, are a group of generalists. They have branched off into herbivores, scavengers, and even parasitic forms. Less successful, the Strider Family has asserted themselves as a common form found near the poles. Adapted to feed off of Thornsprouts and their derivatives, the Striders are some of the most common herbivores there. Lastly, a rather new group, the Lionutcracker Family, has emerged more recently in the Late Adivernian Period. Adapted to be heavily armored, these large herbivores thrive in the Underwater Forests feeding off of Boomerkelp. While this group may seem successful for now, a new threat is emerging. In the Praelurian, many species will be under heavy risk of extinction. Will the Armored Nutcrackers thrive or lose their significance? For now, that is uncertain.
