The Well of Shame is the debut full-length studio album by Rats&Pears, released three years after the band's formation. Produced by Yang Haisong and released under Maybe Mars Records, the album features ten tracks that encapsulate the band's creative efforts since 2022. Among them are undoubtedly moments of doubt and collapse, but through repeated deconstruction and reconstruction, these songs—like the band itself—survived, ultimately recorded in May 2024 by Yan Yuchen, Liu Mengyu, and Guo Yang in a basement in Xibahe, Beijing.  

From the very beginning, Rats&Pears has proclaimed their manifesto:" standing here, on stage, picking up instruments". Rather than labels defining them, these words are them. They seek to dismantle prescribed narratives and reclaim stolen names, yearning for a radical upheaval—sharp, piercing, and anything but gentle.  

Yes, this gunshot—she has waited far too long. If their flesh and blood are no different from theirs, why are there chains everywhere? Ten thousand birds collide in their chests, every uttered syllable scalding like a blade. With their own lives and stance, they will leap out of this  Well of Shame and share with you the horn that heralds departure.
