About the author:
Rolf Boldrewood was the pen name of Thomas Alexander Browne, an Australian writer and magistrate who was born in London in 1826 and died in Melbourne in 1915. He wrote many novels and stories about Australian life, especially the bush and the goldfields. His most famous work is Robbery Under Arms (1888), a classic tale of bushranging and adventure. He also wrote memoirs, essays, and historical sketches. He used his experiences as a squatter, a gold commissioner, and a police magistrate to enrich his fiction with realism and local colour. He is regarded as one of the pioneers of Australian literature.
