The Laboratory of Rarefied Gases is engaged in applied and fundamental research in a wide range of scientific fields. The list of research topics includes:

  • Gas-liquid jet flows in vacuum;

  • Ecology of outer space;

  • Gas-jet synthesis of diamond structures from activated precursor gases;

  • Direct statistical modeling (DSMC) of rarefied gas flows taking into account heterogeneous and gas-phase reactions;

  • Research of processes of plasma-chemical synthesis of nanomaterials;

  • Investigation of the physical and chemical properties of nanomaterials;

  • Synthesis of functional micro- and nanostructured coatings from the activated gas phase;

  • Creation of surfaces with contrasting wettability to intensify heat transfer during phase transitions (boiling, condensation);

  • Deposition of photopolymer coatings on surfaces with different geometries by the HW CVD method;

  • Investigation of the process of separation of emulsions of water and oil products (biofuel) on hydrophobic membranes;

  • Plasma-chemical deposition of thin films of silicon and carbon;

  • Electron-beam plasma in a supersonic gas flow and its diagnostics;

  • Electron Beam Refining;

  • Silicon thin-film solar cells;

  • Composite silicon carbon anodes of lithium-ion batteries;

  • Theoretical and experimental studies of dusty plasma.

Our laboratory is based on the basis of the Institute of Thermophysics IT SB RAS, located in Novosibirsk, Russian Federation. Research carried out on the basis of our laboratory is supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Russian Science Foundation, as well as the Federal Target Programs of the Russian Federation
