The James Rapport Theatre Library is located in the lobby of the Forest Roberts Theatre on Northern Michigan University's campus, and is home to the personal collections of two of our former Directors of Theatre, Dr. Rapport and Dr. Panowski. It contains hundreds of scripts as well as sheet music, librettos, cast recordings, biographies, criticism, theory, and more! The library is run by the NMU Theatre and Dance marketing staff and is a great resource for students as well as members of the community.
The NMU Theatre and Dance marketing staff will make free copies of sheet music, scenes, and monologues from the library for patrons upon request. Patrons will find a seating and study area just outside of the Rapport Theatre Library in the Forest Roberts Theatre lobby.
Rapport Theatre Library materials have a checkout period of two weeks for all paper materials (scripts, sheet music, books, etc.) and a checkout period of one week for non-paper materials (CDs, vinyl records, DVDs). You must check out all materials with a member of the NMU Theatre and Dance marketing staff, and you must provide your name and email upon checkout.
Renewals can be completed in person or via email or telephone. Renewed materials may be checked out for one additional week, and can be renewed twice before they must be returned officially. Materials that are already late may not be renewed. Materials that have a hold placed on them may not be renewed.
Patrons may place holds on materials. Once the held material is returned, the patron will be emailed to inform them that the item is available for pickup.
Please contact the NMU Theatre and Dance marketing office with any questions regarding the library.
