A fun-first spring hockey experience built around player development, confidence, and team connection.
The Rapid Avalanche Spring Teams are designed to give young players the opportunity to continue developing their skills
in the spring while still keeping the experience fun, positive, and age-appropriate.
Designed as an extension of our training philosophy, spring hockey with Rapid Athletics emphasizes skill development, confidence building, and game sense. Our Avalanche teams are built for families who want their child skating more, learning properly, and continuing their development without losing the joy of the game. Our approach blends structured practices, small-area games, and competition in a way that supports learning, teamwork, and confidence.
Skill Building and Team Play
The 2017 Rapid Avalanche team focuses on combining individual skill development with early concepts of team play. At this stage, players are ready to begin understanding how their skills fit into game situations while still learning through fun and competition.
Players continue to improve skating power, quick turns, transitions, and puck control while being introduced to passing concepts and basic positioning. Small-area games and scrimmages encourage decision-making, awareness, and teamwork.
The emphasis remains on growth and enjoyment — while helping players take the next step in understanding how to play within a team environment.
Skating and Skill Foundation
The 2018 Rapid Avalanche team is built around strengthening the core foundations of hockey development. Skating, balance, agility, and puck skills are key areas of focus at this age, helping players become more confident and coordinated on the ice.
Sessions are designed with fun, engaging drills and small-area games that encourage creativity, movement, and teamwork. Players work on passing, shooting, and stickhandling while learning how to play alongside teammates in a positive environment.
The goal is to create a positive experience where players develop strong fundamentals and leave the rink feeling confident and excited to return.
Learn, Laugh, and Skate!
Our 2019 Rapid Avalanche team is all about introducing young players to the game in a fun, welcoming, and confidence-building environment.
Players learn skating fundamentals such as balance, proper hockey stride, stopping, and turning through engaging games and small-area activities. Every session is designed to keep kids moving, smiling, and learning while developing a love for hockey.
The emphasis is on creating positive first experiences, building friendships, and helping young players feel comfortable and confident on the ice.
Each Rapid Avalanche team takes part in a structured spring season that may include weekly development-focused practices, scrimmages and game-like situations, and select spring tournaments. Team activities are designed to build connection, confidence, and enjoyment throughout the season.
Exact schedules and details are shared once teams are finalized.
Rapid Avalanche Spring Teams are a great fit for families who want continued development in the spring, players who enjoy learning and being part of a team, and parents looking for a balanced, well-run spring hockey option that supports long-term growth.
