Read Across America Day was a great day across our district! Schools hosted reading challenges, had dress-up competitions, and sought to cultivate a love for independent reading in students!
The Litearcy Bus rolls in several parades in the community! Check out these photos showing our teachers, volunteers, and district leaders passing out books along routes throughout Cenla.
Community members take time to visit our schools and read to students. Even older students, such as high school football players and cheerleaders, visit elementary schools to inspire students to read.
The Litearcy Task Force has distributed book bags to various community organizations, non-profits, hospitals, pediatrician offices and even hair salons. Our mission is to make books and resources accessible to the children of Rapides parish!
The United Way of Central Louisiana awarded the Rapides Reads initiative a $10,000 Community Impact Grant to help fund our efforts.
