Apolda is located in the state of Thüringen, Germany. Originally a farming settlement, founded in 1119, the city produced church bells from the 1700s until the early 1900s that were famed throughout Europe. In 1594 a newcomer to Apolda, “David the Knitterman” introduced a new trade; the knitting of stockings. Knitwear fashions remain an important part of Apolda’s economy.
Today Apolda offers versatility- it not only continues with its tradition of knitting industry, but also has firms that we are involved in: Fire extinguishing technology, textile machine construction, leather article manufacture, production of analytical chemicals, machine construction and metal processing, building, food industry and of course, the Apoldaer Brewery.
