Rapid Interpretation of EKGs by Dale Dubin is a comprehensive guide to understanding and interpreting electrocardiograms. It provides a thorough overview, from the essentials of cardiac anatomy to distinguishing arrhythmias. This book covers various topics related to ECG interpretation, including normal sinus rhythm, atrial rhythms, ventricular rhythms, and more.

The book also provides a five-step method for reading an EKG strip, which includes identifying and examining the P waves, measuring the PR interval, measuring the QRS complex, identifying the rhythm, and determining the heart rate. Additionally, the book covers the different heart conditions that can be detected through EKG interpretation, such as arrhythmias, myocardial infarction, and atrial fibrillation.

Atrial and ventricular tachyarrhythmias are rapid heartbeat patterns from different heart areas. These two types can be further divided into subtypes based on their characteristics, such as duration and frequency. They may also require distinct treatment approaches depending on individual cases, so accurate diagnosis is essential for formulating effective management plans.

I think that the greatest book regarding ecg interpretation is called "dubins rapid interpretation of the ecg" dont remember dubins first name but am sure you can find it cheap on half.com or amazon....it has been used by generations of physicians and nurses....you cant go wrong with it.

because it is simplistic, easy to remember, and it does teach you all the basic rules by rote learning. that is exactly what a newbie needs. don't try to get a book that is too sophisticated if you're just starting out. considering that rhythms are your weakest point (your words, not mine), if you don't at least master everything that is in dubin's, you really shouldn't be working on a cardiac floor. dubin's is probably as basic as it gets.

I've never read Dubin. I learned my basic arrhythmias in nursing school from my nursing text, had a one day class in rhythm interpretation when I started on the cardiac floor, used websites and PDA programs for studying/sharpening skills, and used "ECG Interpretation Made Incredibly Easy".

The Heart Station Elective at UCI Medical Center should provide a learning experience in ECG reading, ability to identify acute cardiac disorders, and indications, performance and interpretation of treadmill testing including pharmacological stress echocardiograms, stress nuclear testing such as thallium and sestamibi scans, and understand the basics of cardiac interventions such as coronary angiography and EP testing. 17dc91bb1f
