Scalable Data Science (SDS) Lab

Research

The research focus of the SDS Lab is to develop scalable algorithms, techniques, and systems for gaining insights from massive, heterogeneous datasets in domains such as ecommerce, social media, healthcare, and defense applications. This demands new innovations in data and knowledge management, information retrieval, and AI/machine learning. Specifically, the availability of large language models offers new opportunities to develop innovative solutions for data science problems. The Lab has expertise in big data systems, machine learning, and cluster/cloud computing technologies. It develops innovative applications of machine learning/deep learning techniques to solve challenging problems in healthcare (e.g., disease diagnosis), cybersecurity (e.g., health data sharing), and digital humanities (e.g., historical text analysis).
