Chambal SafariThe river safari is a unique experience, unlike anything on the Indian wildlife circuit. The National Chambal Sanctuary is home to The Gharials & Skimmers, Marsh Crocodiles(Muggers), eight species of Turtles, Indian Striped Hyenas, Jungle Cats, Golden Jackals, Indian Wolves and foxes amongst others. A birdwatcher's paradise, the sanctuary currently boasts of over 316 species of resident and migratory birds including large nesting colonies of the Indian Skimmers, the Greater Thick-knee, Lapwings etc. Another reason why visiting Palighat crocodile park is one of the best things to do in Ranthambore is, the presence of huge numbers of 'Gharials'; which is already an endangered species, living along with mighty marsh crocodiles within the steams of Chambal river.
