In 1988, Staley became director of the Ransom Center and led the institution through a 25-year period of tremendous growth and was responsible for helping make it one of the finest humanities research centers in the world.

TXWES Athletics is proud to announce the promotion of Jessica Ransom to assistant athletic director and deputy Title IX coordinator for athletics. Ransom adds the administrative responsibilities to her existing role as head volleyball coach for the Lady Rams.

Athletic Director Ricky Dotson said that since Ransom's first day on campus, she has embodied everything Texas Wesleyan Athletics represents. She will be a vital asset for the administration and a voice he will lean on heavily.

"Jessica is a tremendous role model who constantly recognizes her responsibilities to the University and our athletes," Dotson said. "Her work on and off the volleyball sidelines speaks for itself. If her on-court success is any indication, then there are more exciting days to come for TXWES Athletics."

Ransom has led the Lady Rams to 68 wins in three seasons and three straight trips to the National Tournament opening round. Her winning percentage (.723) is the best among all coaches with at least three seasons. She has also coached three NAIA All-America selections and 18 All-Conference selections.

Dotson concluded, "I recognize how invaluable a diverse athletic department is. Having Jessica's voice as part of our decision-making will serve Texas Wesleyan well, and will ensure that the voices of all our athletes will be heard."

We caught up with Ransom to learn more about her new role.

Prior to joining GW, Ransom served as director of facilities operations for ATCC, a private, nonprofit biological resource center and research organization in Manassas, Va., and held several engineering and facilities management positions at General Motors in Detroit, Mich.

Ransom is one of two SDSU faculty with a role at the game. Jay Sheehan, production manager for the School of Theatre, Television, and Film, will again be technical director of GameDay Fan Plaza, a pre-game event at the stadium.

David Ransom has been announced as the new senior director of public safety and chief of police for Berklee College of Music. Ransom came to Berklee in the fall of 2018 as police captain, with more than 24 years of law enforcement experience. He spent 20 years in a large urban police department in El Paso, Texas, where he rose to the rank of lieutenant and was recognized in consecutive years as Officer of the Year and as a member of the Unit of the Year. Prior to joining Berklee, he held the position of assistant director of public safety at Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

Tom agrees to the FBI's plan for delivering the ransom. Receiving a phone call from Shaker, who electronically disguises his voice, Tom follows his instructions. He meets Cubby in a New Jersey quarry but refuses to hand over the money when Cubby fails to give him Shaker's promised directions to Sean. During an ensuing fight, the FBI intervenes and shoot Cubby, who dies before revealing Sean's location. Tom realizes there is no guarantee Sean will be returned alive. Shaker arranges another drop-off, but although Tom initially agrees to take the money alone, he instead appears on television and offers the ransom as a bounty on the kidnappers, dead or alive, but promises to withdraw the bounty and drop all charges if the kidnappers return Sean alive and unharmed, making it clear he will not pay the ransom.

Despite Kate and Agent Hawkins' pleadings, Tom sticks to his plan, believing it is the best chance for Sean's return. Shaker lures Kate to a meeting where he assaults her and presents Sean's blood-stained t-shirt as a warning to pay the ransom. Tom responds by doubling the bounty to $4 million. Shaker calls Tom and gives him one final warning to pay, but Tom still refuses, and Shaker fires a gunshot after Tom hears Sean scream for help, leading Tom and Kate to believe Sean is dead. Clark and Miles attempt to abandon the plan and flee, but Shaker requests backup, kills both Clark and Miles, and makes it look like Miles shot first. When Maris shoots him in the arm from behind, he kills her, too. The NYPD arrives and find Shaker with a badly beaten Sean, whom they believe Shaker rescued. Hawkins informs Tom and Kate, and they are reunited with Sean while Shaker is hospitalized.

Ransom is the eighth individual to serve in this role. He graduated from Butler University with a Bachelor of Science and has served Phi Kappa Psi in numerous professional capacities since 2004. Previous roles included educational leadership consultant, director of expansion, and senior director of chapter operations. Most recently, Ransom served as chief operating officer before assuming interim executive director responsibilities in May.

Janie was not only a great band director, but was person of high moral character. The influence she had on her students and the community cannot be measured. She is the teacher that all parents would want for their child. She will be sorely missed, however the influence she had will resonate for a long time.

Janie made a tremendous contribution to the Ransom and Tate community. It was a great pleasure to sit next to her in the Orchestra at Hillcrest Baptist Church where her and her family attended. She loved to talk about her band, students, and family. She was born to be a middle school director. She not only produced great bands but prepared students to be successful in high school and after. She will be greatly missed.

Hive used a Ransomware as a Service (RaaS) model featuring administrators and affiliates in which the administrators develop a ransomware strain and create an easy-to-use interface to operate it and then recruit affiliates to deploy the ransomware against victims. Affiliates identified targets and deployed the malicious software to attack victims and then earned a percentage of each ransomware payment, explain DOJ officials.

A native of Pittsburgh who launched his academic career at the University of Tulsa, Staley transformed the center's building at West 21st and Guadalupe streets from a forbidding fortress into an airy and welcoming public showcase with a ground-floor museum and a second-floor reading room. He was the director from 1988 to 2013.

Tom Staley became director of the HRC at a time when that institution had passed through a lengthy period of troubles," said Don Carleton, director of the UT Briscoe Center for American History on the other side of campus. "He soon restored the HRC to its previous status as one of the cultural gems of UT.

Roger Louis, award-winning scholar and retired director of UT's British Studies program, lauded Staley's massing of the papers and manuscripts of Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, John Steinbeck and Edmund Wilson in addition to Joyce.

"As in his public life, Dad was admired, loved and revered at home," said his son Tim, director of the Library Foundation, which supports and promotes the Austin Public Library. "His family always had his whole, undivided and loving attention."

Since taking up the role of director of the Harry Ransom Center in 1988, Thomas Staley has personally helped make humanities research a more tangible facet of education for UT students. The Ransom Center now houses approximately 45 million items in its archives, many of which have been acquired by the director himself. ff782bc1db
