RankJam ("we", "our", "the app") lets you rate and rank songs and albums, follow other users, and share your rankings. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it's handled.
Account info: email address and password, used for sign-in via Supabase Authentication.
Profile info: username, display name, age, bio, country/city, and an optional profile photo.
Ratings & reviews: the songs/albums you rate, your scores, written reviews, and optional review GIFs.
Social activity: who you follow, who you block, comments and likes on reviews, and reports you file against other users' content.
Purchases: if you subscribe to RankJam Pro, purchase and subscription-status information is processed by RevenueCat and Apple's App Store — we don't see or store your payment details.
Song identification (Pro feature): if you use "Listen" to identify a song playing nearby, a short audio clip is recorded and sent to AudD (audd.io) for recognition. The clip is used only to return a match and is not stored by us.
Microphone: used only when you tap "Listen" to identify a song. Not used in the background.
Camera / Photo Library: used only when you choose to set or change your profile picture.
To operate your account, sync your ratings across devices, and show your profile to people who follow you.
To power features like Feed, Charts, Trending, and Leaderboards.
To identify songs you record via the Listen feature (Pro).
To process RankJam Pro subscriptions.
To enforce our community rules (blocking and reporting abusive content).
We don't sell your personal data. Your ratings, reviews, username, and profile photo are visible to other users by design — that's core to how RankJam works. Beyond that, we share data only with the service providers who help run the app:
Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication.
Apple (iTunes/Apple Music APIs) — used to search for and display song/album metadata and artwork. Search terms are sent to Apple but are not linked to your identity.
AudD — processes audio clips for the optional song-identification feature.
RevenueCat — manages subscription purchases and entitlements.
Your data is kept as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which permanently removes your profile, ratings, reviews, and social connections from our systems.
RankJam is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
You can edit or remove your profile info, ratings, and reviews at any time from within the app.
You can block other users to stop them from interacting with you.
You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings.
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
