Abstract

The Rangelands Partnership (RP) is a collective effort involving rangeland specialists, information technology experts, and academic librarians from 19 U.S. land-grant universities. Through numerous projects and initiatives, the RP has developed Rangelands Gateway, a website featuring a database of rangeland resources and tools and 11 collections of rangeland content. The Rangelands Gateway offers resources and expertise needed to inform public debate and decision-making regarding today’s grand challenges of food security, climate adaptation, public health, environmental impacts, and economic development as they relate to rangelands around the world. Visit Rangelands Gateway in November/December 2020!

RangeLands Gateway

The Rangelands Gateway offers resources and expertise needed to inform public debate and decision-making regarding today's grand challenges of food security, climate adaptation, public health, environmental impacts, and economic development as they relate to rangelands around the world. The following sections outline elements of the new website.

Welcome

Visitors are greeted to Rangelands Gateway with a seasonal image of rangelands. The search bar allows users to access the database that includes collections of full text resources from professional societies such as the Society for Range Management, Grassland Society of Southern Africa, The Land Portal, and the Australian Rangelands Society as well as carefully selected best of the best materials.

Explore state specific resources created by rangeland specialists, librarians, and technology professionals from one of our 19 Land Grant Universities Partners.

Topics

Browse topics to learn about the ecology, uses, and societal benefits of these vast and impressive landscapes and to understand the importance of conservation and restoration for future generations. Written and edited by rangeland professionals. Topics address a wide variety of rangeland issues and content is available in many formats including journal articles, images, videos, podcasts, maps, reports, and educational tools.

Projects

For the last two decades the Rangelands Partnership has successfully collaborated on local, regional, national and international projects to create and distribute new rangeland knowledge. Projects deal with research, outreach and forging collaborations. Read about current and past projects.
