RANDY BAUER

Randy Bauer is a composer and pianist immersed in both the classical and jazz worlds. His works have been performed across a range of cities and venues, from Austin to Zagreb, including throughout Minnesota (his home since 2009) and the Midwest, to New York, Chicago, Washington, Boston, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Zürich, Berlin, Paris, Uppsala, Saint Petersburg, and elsewhere.
Premieres of his work have been given by members of the Minnesota Orchestra and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Brentano String Quartet, eighth blackbird, Osmo Vänskä, Detroit Symphony Chamber Winds and Strings, Nash Ensemble of London, Zeitgeist, No Exit Ensemble, Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble, Network for New Music, New Jersey Symphony, Sinfonietta of Riverdale, the Croatian National Radio and Television Big Band, and many others.
His work has been performed during the 50th anniversary season of the Music Biennale Zagreb/ISCM World Music Days, at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Utah Arts Festival, the MATA Festival, the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, and has been broadcast on WFMT Chicago and Minnesota Public Radio.
He has been a McKnight Foundation Fellow in Music Composition, awarded by the McKnight Foundation of Minnesota, and a Fellow of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. He has been a resident artist at Yaddo, the Ucross Foundation, and the Atlantic Center for the Arts, and has received many regional and national awards.
He holds B.M. and M.M. degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of Music (Johns Hopkins University), and an M.F.A. and Ph.D. in music from Princeton University.
