School on Graphs and Random Processes

16-20 December, 2019

The goal of this meeting is to give an exposure of random processes on graphs. There will be three mini courses on this topic and several research level seminars on the broader class of probability theory.

Some of the key topics for the mini courses would be branching random walks, Galton-Watson trees, random networks etc.

Cultural Event: Hindustani Classical Instrumental Music

A brief biography Nikhil Patwardhan has over 30 years experience with Indian Classical music and the Sitar. Nikhil started his Hindustani Classical music training at the age of five with his grandmother, Smt Sarojinidevi Patwardhan and father, Shri Kumar Patwardhan. He started receiving training from Pandit Partha Chatterjee, belonging to the Maihar Gharana. Nikhil is highly inspired by Pandit Nikhil Banerjee's style of music. His Sitar highlights the elements of the Maihar Gharana like tar-paran, meend, gamak, zamzama and Merukhand taans. He has performed several concerts at multiple venues in India as well as internationally including the US, UK, Japan, Dubai, Indonesia among others.He also teaches Sitar and conducts music therapy sessions with the Sitar. He has a Masters in Electrical engineering from Clemson University, USA.

The domestic non-AC three-tier sleeper class expenses for a direct point to point round trip can be reimbursed depending on the availability of fund upon a separate application by the BSc, MSc, JRF or SRF participants who do not have a contingency grant.

Check-in: after 10 AM 15th December, Checkout: before 12 noon 21st December.

Note that Prithvi hostel is not in IISER campus. It is an accommodation facility of IITM and is 1.5 km away from the venue. Everyday the participants can avail the 8-seat vehicle at 7:30 to reach the mess for breakfast and at 20:30 for returning to Prithvi. The car would shuttle at most 4 times in the morning and evening.
