CARE Lab

We CARE about the buildings, bridges, and infrastructure systems to make them resilient against multi-hazard events and also CARE about the people, society, and economy, ensuring disaster resilience, reducing socioeconomic losses, and enhancing post-disaster functionality.

Our research interests include risk and resilience analysis of civil structures; multi-hazard coastal resilience in a changing climate; digital twins for structural assessment, monitoring, and control; data-driven modeling; and risk-informed decision-making.

Our research emphasizes resilience-informed, functionality-oriented, and human-centered decision-making for disaster risk reduction of the built environment in the face of multiple hazards, incorporating climate extremes considering physical and socio-economic impacts.

February, 2026 : Four papers are published in the ICCESD, KUET.
December, 2025 : Sohel participated in the ICCEI conference at RUET, Rajshahi and presented a paper.
September, 2025 : Two (02) reresearch projects on "Seismic Isolation of Chemical Storage Tank" And "Coastal Resilience for Earthquake and Storm Surge" have been awarded by the Directorate of Research & Extension, CUET. Two RA positions are available.
March, 2025 : Article on "Community-Level Seismic Risk and Retrofitting Portfolios" has been published in ASCE Natural Hazards Review. Read here.
January, 2025 : Two (02) reresearch projects on Seismic IM selection and Seismic Resilience Assessment are awarded by Directorate of Research & Extension, CUET. RA positions are available.
December, 2024 : Sohel Rana attended 7th ICACE at CUET, Bangladesh and presented two papers.
October, 2024 : Sohel Rana delivered a speech on "Earthquake Engineering for Safer Civil Structures" at IEER, CUET.

April, 2024 : Sohel Rana is recognized as Outstanding Reviewer 2023 by ASCE.
January, 2024 : One research project on MCDM Approach in Regional Seismic Risk Assessment is awarded by Directorate of Research & Extension, CUET.
October, 2023 : Tomorrow's Cities project in BD has been started with funding from UKRI-GCRF Urban Disaster Risk Hub.
September, 2023 : Article on seismic performance assessment of bridge has been published by ACI as special issue (SP 358).
August, 2023 : Two research projects have been awarded by Directorate of Research & Extension, CUET.
April, 2023 : CDRI fellowship has been awarded with USD 15K research grant.
