Understanding the neurobiology of motivation and drug addiction
Our research runs along two major themes. The first revolves around understanding the basic neural, behavioral and environmental mechanisms underlying motivational processes and drug addiction. The second is aimed at developing neurobiological and behavioral strategies aimed at treating drug addiction. To these ends we use sophisticated behavioral paradigms with the rat model in conjunction with neuroscience approaches including neuropharmacology, chemogenetics, RNAscope (in-situ hybridization), fiber photometry and immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence.
