Ramp Facade

93 Jalan Dua is one of the oldest HDB flats in Singapore, with a high proportion of elderly and multi-generational families. It is characterized by a flat block typology with low headroom and shallow corridors that exposes the apartments to the elements of a tropical climate.

The architecture of aging in place attempts to redefine the concepts of empowerment and independence. The ramp facade is a prototypical system of circulation spaces that functions as a deep overhang and a series of communal landing spaces for social gatherings.
