Ramon Nagesan, M.Sc

I am a comparative vertebrate anatomist, micro-CT expert, and a museum professional.   My research background includes: anatomical and biomechanical studies in vertebrate paleontology, herpetology, ichthyology, mammalogy, and museum specimen best practices. I am currently the micro-CT lab manager at the University of Michigan Museum of Zoology, and have previously held roles at the Royal Tyrell Museum of Paleontology, and conducted research in the collections of the Royal Ontario Museum , Natural History Museum (UK), Field Museum, and American Museum. 

My research focuses both on extant and extinct species to try and understand how anatomy informs ecological function.  I primarily use micro-CT scanning to generate 3D anatomical renders of bone and soft tissues. I also have a background in sedimentary geology, which forms the basis of some of my field research projects in Alberta, Canada.

I have trained over 20 undergraduate and graduate students to use micro-CT data as part of their own research, and worked to make micro-CT data as accessible as possible to wider research community.
