Lifesaving sport offers events held in both pools and open water (lakes and beaches). Lifesaving sport offers competition for events that challenge skills or simulate skills that our lifeguards use in rescue situations. All lifeguards are encouraged to train and compete at lifesaving sport to keep their skills, fitness and swimming ability high and ready for any rescue situations.
Competitions are available to those older than 7 years of age with events adapted for our younger competitors. Some pool events are not open to those younger than 15, but there are a range of both pool and open water events for all athletes! A great way to get involved in lifesaving sport is as an aquatic staff member at your local pool! Each competition we support our Zatzman Sportsplex lifeguarding staff to enter and compete at our Nova Scotia pool and beach competitions.
For a more in-depth breakdown of our pool and beach events please visit the lifesaving society website here.
