Projects

  1. Non-contact monitoring of vitals from human and animal models
    • Non-contact assessment of the functioning of the cardiovascular system from videos of zebrafish larvae (PhD scholar funded as an SRF by CSIR, Govt. of India).
    • Non-contact estimation of heart-rate from face-videos of human subjects
    • Non-contact estimation of respiration waveform & chest expansion (human subject)
  2. Physiological Signal Processing
    • An automatic method of detecting QRS-complexes in ECG Signals
    • MVDR method of estimating the frequency and powers of narrow-band components in signals
  3. Digital Pathology
    • Digital TB Screening - robust and automatic estimation of the number of micobacteria from stained sputum smears (Partially Funded by the Govt. of Karnataka)
    • Comprehensive assessment of Candida from microscope-images of sputum smears
    • Assessment of the Degree of Tremor from images of hand-drawn spirals
    • We were the first to report that colors pertaining to tissue-types/pigmentation on a wound-bed can be as many as eight.
  4. Development of Image/Signal Processing Algorithms
    • Automatic detection of QRS-complexes; heart-rate (HR) and Hear-rate Variability (HRV)
    • Adaptive MVDR method of estimating power spectrum from time-varying signals
    • In vitro assessment of the response of blood-vessels to vaso-active agents by Microscope-Imaging & Image Processing
  5. Invariants in Image Processing
    • Moment-based Invariants - for classifying objects in images invariant to translation, rotation, geometric & amplitude scaling, and even blur.
