Investigating fluid flow over cylinders and various flow induced motions such as vortex-induced vibrations (VIV), Galloping, Fluttering associated with it.
In particular, explored and exploited VIV to look into possibilities of energy extractions from such fluid flows as my PhD work.
Used Reduced Order Modelling and Computational Fluid Dynamics for the study
Simulated the fluid flow over an impulse turbine to extract the wave energy.
An existing turbine was optimized and was found to be approximately 24 % more efficient than the former one. This work was my MS thesis work and the project was granted by National Institute of Technology, Energy and Fresh water group, Chennai.
