Job Description:
We are recruiting field research assistants to support a project on identifying and mapping abandoned greenhouses. The work primarily involves desk-based research utilising Google Street View, with field verification.
Main Tasks
Identify locations of abandoned greenhouses in Ibaraki Prefecture using Google Street View
Check historical imagery (Google Earth historical street view) to determine:
approximate date when greenhouses were still in operation
approximate date when they became abandoned
Record the latitude and longitude of each site
Enter data into a structured table/database (Excel/Google Sheets)
Participate in field surveys for ground-truthing
Take simple field notes and photos where permitted
Requirements
Interest in remote sensing, geography, agriculture, or environmental studies
Ability to work carefully and systematically
Basic Google Earth/Maps usage skills (training will be provided)
Preferably based in or familiar with Ibaraki Prefecture (not mandatory)
Working style
A combination of remote work (online mapping) and field survey
Flexible working time (to be discussed)
Compensation
3000 yen per hour with a maximum of three hours/week
The total project is four weeks
