This year has been filled with a wide range of public academic activities. Most of these took the form of invited lectures, visiting professor and lecturer programs, as well as intensive one-day courses. I have had the opportunity to participate in many of these events, primarily through invitations from leading universities in Indonesia, including Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Diponegoro, and Universitas Hasanuddin.
I delivered various topics, such as:
1. "Geospatial Data and Its Relevance to IT: From Maps to Code - The Digital World of Geospatial Data"
2. "Climate Change and Environmental Risks in Urban Areas: Using GI Science and Earth Observation"
3. "From Geodesy to Geo-Intelligence: Earth Observation Foundations for Environmental and Infrastructure Monitoring"
4. "Earth observation satellite & GIScience for environment and infrastructure monitoring", and
5. "Ethics for Faculty & Staff: Lessons learned from the University of Tsukuba"
One particularly rewarding experience was an academic discussion with visiting scholars from the University of Kazakhstan. The exchange covered diverse research topics, and my students actively presented their ongoing work, gaining valuable international exposure. These interactions not only enrich our academic environment but also open doors to future research collaborations, an opportunity I am eager to expand together with motivated students in my lab.
