I have always loved history and working in the field of public history. When I was in university a professor asked me if I had ever thought of pursuing medical history. This opened a whole new world for me in discovering that there was this field in the history of medicine that I had yet to discover. Over my four years of study, I found a way to make almost every single one of my course essays on medical history topics.
I had thought about pursuing a master's degree but it is too much trouble for me. So then what was I to do with all my medical history knowledge?
I work at my local museum and in my spare time, I portray a regimental British surgeon from the War of 1812. In these, I am able to share only small portions of my knowledge and most of the time I have to dilute the presentations. I have the most opportunity to talk about medical history while reenacting but people are very squeamish and I have to censor so much.
My friend and coworker convinced me to start a podcast and here I am! I am now sharing my passion for medical history and history in general with all of you. Even if no one is listening and I am simply filling the void ... well ... at least I have tried.
Thanks for listening and keep rambling on...
