Work reported in PhD thesis made the following four novel contributions

 

 1. Estimating an image in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise  is considered.  A discontinuity-adaptive  Markov random field prior  is incorporated in the recursive Kalman filter using a random sampling technique.

 

2. Image estimation in the presence of nonlinear film-grain  noisy observation is handled by the application of  the  Unscented Kalman filter (UKF) .

 

3.  Probabilistic prior is incorporated into the  UKF and explored its applicability to multiplicative speckle noise suppression in synthetic aperture radar images.

 

4. Filling in the damages in an image while simultaneously reducing the noise is accomplished by embedding a novel edge-based inpainting method in the UKF.

 

 

Work reported in MS thesis made the following novel contributions

 

Problem:  Extraction of depth  information, between a pair of epi-polar cameras and the objects, from a pair of stereo (or binocular) images of  the scene.

 

   1. Probabilistic iterative matching of the corresponding  "similar’’ pixels of the two stereo images.

 

2. Converging  (the weights of)  network that formulated from left image by self-organizing principle towards the right image. The difference between the initial and the final weights directly gives us the disparity map of the  whole image.
