A Little Bit About Me
Raine (they/them) is a teaching artist, curriculum developer, program manager, and director in the Washington DC area.
Raine has worked as a teaching artist across the country. Credits include University of Utah Youth Theatre, Lexington Children's Theatre, Olney Theatre Center, Alexandria Children's Theatre, BlackRock Center for the Arts, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Imagination Stage, Round House Theatre, and National Children's Theatre. Raine also served as the Lead Drama Teacher for Two Rivers Public Charter School in Washington DC.
Directing credits include Frailty, Thy Name (Nutshell Theatre Co.), The Value (University of Utah New Play Workshop), and In Spite of Ourselves (The Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival). Raine also directed and organized a Salt Lake City based production of The Vagina Monologues, with ticket sales going to the Planned Parenthood Association of Utah.
Assistant directing credits include Pinkalicious (Salt Lake Acting Company) and The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 (The Grand Theatre). Raine is looking forward to serving as an Assistant Director for a devised production with ArtStream, starting in October.
As a program manager and curriculum developer, Raine as managed budgets, developed lessons, and coordinated events for theatre companies and arts organizations across Washington DC area. Raine has managed classes, student matinees, summer camps, and schools residencies with a variety of partners. They have also written lesson and curriculum on Shakespeare, movement, acting, scene work, devising, and arts integrated lessons with english and social studies topics.
Raine holds a BFA in Theatre from The University of Utah and an MA in Theatre Education from The Catholic University of America with an expertise in arts integration with english language arts and social studies. For their thesis, Raine taught a six lesson unit that expanded students knowledge of the Revolutionary War through process drama.
