Rain Bailey is a sophomore at Linfield University pursuing majors in music and creative writing. Music has always been a part of their life, beginning as a pianist at age six, where they took private lessons with Anita Keffer for twelve years. They began their collaborative music journey in the sixth grade, when they joined the middle school concert band and learned clarinet. In seventh grade they learned electric bass for their middle school jazz ensemble. Throughout high school as a clarinetist and bassist they participated in Marching Band, Pep Band, Jazz Band, Concert Band, and Winter Percussion, graduating with the music pathway endorsement. Now at Linfield University, they participate in Marching Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Choir, and through lessons they are starting to build up a repertoire of compositions. In Spring 2021 they had the privilege of composing an art song for soprano Arwen Meyers and accompanist Susan McDaniel, which was submitted into the 2020-2021 school year Symposium.
