When & where are the meetings?
We meet on Mondays from 6:00pm - 8:00pm in STU 210 for the Spring 2025 semester. Check out the Connect page for information on how to stay up-to-date with all our announcements!
Do I have to sign up?
Nope! Any student can come on out & we'll get you signed in.
What do we do at the meetings?
Raiders Write uses an A-B Week structure.
During A Week meetings, we begin with reviewing anything that has been anonymously submitted to our critiques form. We limit this to a couple submissions per meeting to conserve our limited time. Then, we have a little mini lesson on something related to the writing craft, and we provide time for everyone to apply what they learned to one of their own pieces. Afterwards, we take a break, and then finish off with writing sprints, during which we write - or work on homework - for a short period of time (~12 minutes) and then take a break (~5 minutes), aiming to end the meeting strong on a sprint.Â
During B Week meetings, we begin with partner / small group critiques, which allows for more dynamic feedback than our anonymous critique form does. Then, we have a mini lesson on a specific genre of writing, followed by a writing prompt that may or may not relate to the genre we learned about. Afterwards, just like during A Weeks, we take a break, and then finish off the meeting with sprints.
Whether it's an A Week or a B Week, we dedicate time to helping, learning, and writing.
Sometimes, we pause the A-B structure to host games, holiday-themed activities, or workshops. Check out the Connect page for information on how to stay up-to-date on any special meetings or changes to our meeting structure.
How do I anonymously submit my work for critiques from the club?
