My interview on All India Radio
Our discovery of an isolated population of a unique melanic morpho-variant/subspecies of an ant mimicking jumping spider from Chotanagpur plateau region was covered by national newspapers. We have studied the taxonomy, biogeography, molecular phylogeny and behaviour of this morpho-variant in detail.
We have discovered a new Geological site of potential palaeontological significance near Barkagaon, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. There are lots of peculiar rock formations, fossils, pseudofossils, unique vegetation and interesting arthropod fauna. Geologists, palaeontologists and biologists should study this site for more interesting discoveries. Thanks to Navbharat Times for featuring our discovery.
My recently published work on development of a nanotechnology based species identification tool has been featured by Navabharat Times. The work was published as a part of Science news column in its website and was also telecasted on the national television.
Video clip from the TV programme based on my research work. It was telecasted on the national television by Navbharat Times. .
While exploring the untouched hinterlands of Hazaribagh, Mirtunjay Sharma, Vinod Michael and I came across an unusual appearing rock lying over the forest floor. We have discovered a huge golden meteorite like rock with cup like depressions all over it inside an isolated densely forested area of Barkagaon, Hazaribagh. More analysis is required to confirm its real identity because other rocks in this area are completely different. In this regard, we are consulting some experts including the former director of Geological Survey of India. Today's Hindustan newspaper has featured our discovery.
How do I conduct scientific research and perform my experiments while working at a far rural institution of Bihar? Where people keep complaining about system and resource crunch, I have made best use of available resources leading to some wonderful discoveries and establishment of a decent research facility. I have tried my best to find blessings in disguise coping up with prevailing administrative and societal challenges. Read this story about my small yet beautiful "Evolution Lab" featured in "Biotales", an unique initiative by Dr. Aswathy Raveendran, Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR, Mumbai and her team.
