Teaching

The teaching profession has a two-folded advantage while teaching you get to learn the basics that you missed earlier and, particularly, it is the basic concepts in mathematics that always counts. It is my personal experience that fundamental ideas of any subject lead to a deep understanding of the same. Though I am teaching mathematics since my Graduation days, in a formal way it started when I joined the PhD program at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, India. The Department of Mathematics of IIT Roorkee encourages each of its scholars to take a teaching assistant job in order to keep them learning and to develop teaching ability while doing research. Following the practice, I taught some courses entitled MAN-001 (which mainly involve the topics like Matrix Algebra, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, and Vector Calculus) and MAN-002 (includes Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations, Laplace transform, Z-transform, Fourier Series and Fourier transform) assigned by the department for the period of two years.

In addition to this, I assisted my thesis supervisor Prof. P. N. Agrawal in the three MOOC courses entitled Numerical Linear Algebra, Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations and its Applications, and Advanced Engineering Mathematics supported by National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), IIT Madras, India. This assistance involves making assignments, discussing-framing question papers, and helping students with their doubts.
