Aquatic macroinvertebrates are an important part of pond ecosystems, as they are important for recycling nutrients, organic material transport and process, and food resources for upper trophic levels. Yet, there’s little information about macroinvertebrate community composition, especially in semitropical climates. In addition, the influence of rural and urban systems on these communities has been overlooked. The objective of this study was to identify whether there were differences in the community diversity of macroinvertebrates between urban and rural ponds in the North Texas region.
