Privacy Policy

SensorLab Privacy Policy

SensorLab Privacy Policy

Effective date: 9 June 2026

  1. Summary
SensorLab is a device-first app for measuring environmental sensors (light, sound level, motion, proximity, compass, etc.). The app processes sensor data locally and does not require an account. This policy explains what SensorLab accesses, why, and what (if anything) is shared with third parties.

  2. Data we access and how we use it

  • Sensor data (local): Light, accelerometer, magnetometer/compass, proximity, and other device sensor readings are used to provide measurements and visualizations. These readings are processed and stored only on your device.

  • Microphone: Required to measure sound levels (noise meter). Audio is processed in real time on the device; SensorLab does not save or upload audio recordings.

  • Location (precise/approximate): Used only when you enable location-based features (e.g., location-tagging of measurements, improved compass accuracy). Location is accessed while the app is in use and is not collected, stored, or shared by SensorLab unless you explicitly export or share data yourself.

  • Advertising identifiers and ad signals: We display ads using Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). AdMob’s SDK may collect the device Advertising ID and other signals to serve and measure ads. We do not control the data processing done by Google — see Google’s policies for details.

  • Exports and files: When you export measurement files (CSV/XLSX/PDF) the files are created on your device and saved or shared from your device only. SensorLab does not automatically upload exported files to our servers.

  1. Background operation and notifications
SensorLab can run background measurements using a foreground/background service and will display a persistent notification while background measurement is active. This behavior is only used to keep measurements running reliably; no additional data is transmitted because of background operation.

  2. Third parties and sharing

  • We do not sell, rent, or share your sensor data or personal data to third parties, except for ad-related signals shared with AdMob (Advertising ID, ad metrics).

  • Third-party SDKs (e.g., AdMob) have their own privacy practices; consult their policies for more information.

  1. Data retention and deletion

  • Local-only: Sensor data, history, and preferences remain on your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing app data removes this information.

  • Exports you create remain wherever you save or share them; SensorLab does not retain copies.

  1. Security
We use reasonable technical measures appropriate for a client-side mobile app. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.

  2. Children’s privacy
SensorLab is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

  3. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy; we will publish the updated effective date.

  4. Data Safety summary for app store listing (suggested wording)

  • Data collected: Location (precise) — Collected (only when you enable location features); Microphone (audio) — Collected (used for real-time measurement, not saved or transmitted); Sensor data — Collected (on-device only); Device or other IDs — Advertising ID — Collected and shared with advertising partners (AdMob).

  • Data shared: Advertising ID and ad signals — Shared with AdMob for ads and measurement. All other categories — Not shared.
