I've been trying to implement some of the requested features provided by you all. There are some other issues that I've need to work on re how the app works. So I thought I'd keep you updated! 😀
This section is for everyone as it fills you in what you can do with the app. If you're interested in the tech side of things, the section below is for you, you just need to tap to open it!
The web app is a site to assist in learning songs for a choir which I started as a project because I couldn't find the tracks easily on WhatsApp. I am hopeful that it will help us all to prepare for this event, and will then be available for other events in the future, for instance Prom Priase 2026!! It has expanded as I've thought of extra features that might help, and also received suggestions from choir members (thanks for those👍). Here are the basic features and some how-to's...
The Home page: This is basically a set of links to various pages in the web app. The main page that you will want is the page for your choir part, of which there are 5: Whole Choir, Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass. The parts pages are listed directly on the home page and also, can be accessed by tapping the 'triple line' menu button (top left) from anywhere in the app. Other pages are also on that menu with some listed on the home page (best to just have a look).
Parts Pages: As mentioned above there is a page for each part. For practice just tap the link to your part and you will be ready to go with the various practice features.
Sheet Music: All of the sheet music is available via the 'Sheet Music' page. You can also open sheet music by tapping the title of the track that you are playing. If you can see the music on your small screens (rotating to landscape can help), then you can start the track playing and then tap the link to open the sheet music, an all-in-one practice solution! 🥳
Other Pages:
Calendar: this is a live calendar (I have set up a Google Calendar for this purpose which is linked directly on the Calendar page). For any event on the calendar you can tap the event for a bit more info, and tap again for the whole calendar entry. I've tried to keep up with info coming in and entries (should) have details about the event (even what songs we will be practising) along with venue addresses. If you tap on the address on your phone it should open sat nav to get you there.
Info pages. Open these to see information relevant to preparation, expectations, the day, etc. Keep an eye for anything else that may go on there. There is also a page 'About Recordings' which is an official video by Sarah, talking about the recordings and their use, well worth a watch.
App Updates --> This page!! Keep up to date. It's for all but good for techies to see the app features as it's developed.
Parts [Test] and the Test Pages section: As I develop the app it's important that I see it live on a phone, rather than just on a screen. Therefore, you will see a Test Pages menu item. Feel free to have a look but it's not fully useable code, just things that I'm trying out. The Parts [Test] group is very much for you to try out (and me). These pages are still being developed but are what will become the main practice track pages. Please feel free to have a play and if you can think of anything to add or change then do let me know (WhatsApp is the best for that).
I really hope that this helps you to practice. Enjoy using it and let me know if there are any issues.🎶
