Postdoctoral Researchers

Suhail Shah

Suhail work as a Research Scientist at the University of Texas at Austin. He recieved his Ph. D  in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India, and his Bachelors in Electronics and Communication Engineering (2012) from  National Institute of Technology Srinagar, India. Before joining UT, he was a postdocoral researcher at HKUST-Huawei Joint Laboratory with Prof. Vincent K. Lau. His research interests lie in mathemtical optimization and its applications to Machine Learning and Distributed Signal Processing.  (website)

PhD Students

Cem Karamanli

Cem is a fifth year PhD candidate expected to graduate in 2024 in the Operations Research and Industrial Engineering program at University of Texas at Austin. Prior to UT, he received his Bachelors from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey in Industrial Engineering.  His research interests lie in designing algorithms for stochastic optimization. He has conducted research in derivative free optimization, constrained optimization and decentralized optimization.(website)

Shagun Gupta

Shagun is a fourth year PhD candidate expected to graduate in 2025 in the Operations Research and Industrial Engineering program at University of Texas at Austin. He received his Bachelors from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India in Production and Industrial Engineering.  His research is motivated by design of algorithms and solvers for practical applications. His current works include research in decentralized optimization, stochastic constrained optimization and noisy derivative free optimization. (website)


Yash Kumar

Yash is a third year PhD student expected to graduate in 2026 in the Operations Research and Industrial Engineering program at University of Texas at Austin. He received his Masters from Carnegie Mellon University in Energy, Technology and Policy and Bachelors from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
